1. Dublin Bus

The Dublin bus network is all embracing. There are hundreds of Dublin bus stops serving nearly every area in the city, running from the outer northern suburbs to the outer southern suburbs. All routes go through the City Centre.

How do I pay?

  • Visitor Leap Card (valid for up to 72 hours)
  • Buy a Leap Card and top it up in a local shop (top it up in €5 increments) – – Touch your Leap Card on the ticket machine when boarding the bus
  • Cash – exact change only if you’re taking a couple of trips.

2. Tram (LUAS)

The Luas Green Line travels from Stephens Green, on the South Side of the City Centre. It travels to the outer South-East suburbs.

The Luas Red Line travels from the Point Village, east side of the city. It runs East west along the River Liffey and connects the two main train stations in the city, Connolly and Heuston stations. It then travels to the outer South-West suburbs.

  • Leap Visitor card (valid for up to 72 hours)
  • Buy a Leap Card and top it up in a local shop (€5 increments)
  • Or if you’re only taking a few trips pay cash at a ticket machine along the Luas line before you board (notes and coins accepted)

3. DART Rail Line

DART stands for ‘Dublin Area Rapid Transport’. This offers a fast, scenic route, so you can enjoy the view of the Irish coastline. This rail system runs from the South to Northern suburbs of Dublin, hugging the coast all the way.

  • Buy a Travel Leap Card and top it up in most shops (€5 increments)
  • Or if you’re only taking a few trips pay cash at a ticket machine

4. Bicycle

Dublin Bikes are a public bike-rental service. This is a great way to explore the hidden corners of Dublin. You can rent one from dozens of terminals dotted around the City Centre and inner city suburbs.

  • Pick up a 3-day Ticket at selected City Dublin Bike terminals for €5
